Yes, that’s me. I do not usually have too many photos of myself but I thought this time I should have got one. This is a tunnel that goes through most of South Yarra. Great for Urban exploration

What a brilliant find….I’m amazed it isnt all locked up.
Love the moody feel of the place……does it run under Chapel St?

Hi Diane, it is hard to say where is going. The GPS does not work and I felt a bit lost inside. It does feel that goes under Chapel St., based on the street noise. A great site to explore even further

It’s just below the Punt Road bridge. You can walk there from an unsealed path that starts between the bridge and the train rail. Good luck with the visit and remember to avoid the place with rain or possible rain, it may be dangerous

        Hi Stef,

Trying to find the entrance. Is it along the yarra river that you enter the tunnel, below Punt Road bridge?

It is along the Yarra river, almost below the Burch Street bridge, Around 15 meters from church street. I suggest you go on the other side of the river and you will see it straight away. There is a dirty road that gives access to it

It is visible from the train line between South Yarra and Richmond. Look at Melbourne High School as you pass over the river. I used to explore this place as a teenager in the 90’s. It opens up in a chamber as shown in e pic, right under Como place at the corner of Chapel & Toorak roads. I have been up a long way further and come out near housing commission in Prahran. I’ve also been in small bricked tunnels which ran up under the railway lines. Scary and exciting. Definitely a dry weather place only. We came across a large black plastic bag about 6 foot long in one tunnel and never went back again.

That’s super scary Ben. And the end of your story with the plastic bag seems like a horror movie. LOL
I stopped at the chamber only and I am now very happy I did that. That’s a long way to the housing commission btw. Thanks for your story 😉
