St.Kilda Cafes

Harper’s Kitchen….bike and coffees

HarpersKitchenn_20110212_1

How did I notice this place, well as easy as that, I felt in love for the bike on the wall, a shining magnetic red Tommasini.  On the side there was Harper's Kitchen, a fantastic cafe' which deserves definitely more attention. I am starting asking myself if there is a relationship  between bikes and cafes. Lots of cafes I have been →

Neighbours Cafe ……a bit graffiti a bit vintage

neighbourscafe_20101106_1

The worst thing that can happen to people is to get used to the neighborhood, and places become unnoticed  and almost for grant. You see that cafe on the corner, it must be new, maybe, why not checking it, maybe tomorrow, and you carry on in the usual pattern to go to one of your favorite cafe, or one of you preferred city areas. Neighbours Cafe →

Batch Café…..a sequence of nice events (Iphone photos)

IMG_0151e

Are you in technology? In case you are this is you café, clearly. Just to explain to everybody else, a batch job is, to give a really simple explanation, a sequence of job. It is like you first enter to a café, you than order a coffee, you select your brunch, you read the news, you have a talk with →

Lava cafe’ ….you can live of coffee in St.Kilda East (Iphone photos)

iPhone 020

I originally lived in Elwood and more I visited St.Kilda East more I could see lots of changes, new pubs, new restaurants, more lively, nicer and nicer, an incredible library full of books, CDs, DVDs and now audio books and ebooks on-line. Ops, I forgot to mention the ever increasing number of cafes', just never ending, Lava is another one, →

Gattica……outstanding breakfast

Gattica (photo from pubsandclubs.net.au)

It is hard to stand out in the Melbourne Café scene, but Gattica seems it took the challenge seriously. From the beginning to the end, my experience was just outstanding. Only disappointment is that all of my pictures in the IPhone, video included, were lost after my ITunes crash, bloody Apple, a great product, great design →

Galleon Café, not anymore a secret in St.Kilda

The Galleon (photo from theage.com.au)

This is my favourite café in St.Kilda. I am really sorry for all the others cafes and I believe my preference is more due to historical reasons than anything else. It was the first cafes I have been when I arrived in Australia/Melbourne and it was the café I went after I bought the house in St.Kilda, just to add →

Wall Two 80, another corner of St.Kilda East

Wall Two 80 (photo from broadsheet.com.au)

Have you ever though that less a bar has more successful is. I mean when the furniture is cheap, benches and crates outside, leftovers from somewhere, and sofas from the Opshop, than people are more attracted by the place. Weird but in many cases the cafés are like that. Wall Two 80 is a typical example. This is not to →

Las Chicas, only the best

Las Chicas (photo from yourrestaurants.com.au)

This is the area I like most of Melbourne, maybe. Why? Because it is so close to the sea and it is not as touristic. Going to Acland Street for a coffee is like having breakfast on vacation, lots of people around with maps and Lonely planet guides, checking for the best café, the best restaurant or simply the best →

Miss Jackson: find it and enjoy it

Miss Jackson

How many times I have walked in this area, and how many times I rode my bicycle in this little street, well, I always missed this place. They have a small front courtyard but you cannot see it from outside, and the bar is on a mezzanine floor. The space outside has a rusted tall iron-made fence, that gives really →

Dr.Jekyll in St.Kilda

Dr Jekyll (photo from brunchaddict.com)

Today we have decided to explore the St.Kilda scene. I did not expect too much, fitzroy street is famous for the pub and bars, ackland street for the cake shops (very touristic), gray street famous for... well everybody knows, and here it is the surprise, Dr.Jekyll. 107 grey street St.Kilda www.drjekyll.com.au Coffee and service are the main attractions because only sandwiches are available. →
